Indonesia is like a piece of paradise land. The natural beauty of the archipelago from Sabang to Merauke is truly extraordinary. Tourism spots are scattered all over the country. It's no wonder that in 2019, Indonesia was ranked 7th in the world's best tourism according to Lonely Planet, a travel guide book and the world's largest digital media publisher.

Indonesian tourist destinations can match the most prestigious and famous tourist attractions abroad. There are several destinations you cannot miss when you are in Indonesia. however, this write up explores seven  Top Tourist Destinations in Indonesia you should visit.

1.     1.       Tangkahan Ecotourism

This is located in the area of Gunung Leuser National Park (TNGL). It is nicknamed the Hidden Paradise in Sumatra. Tourists can explore the forest, and the river currents, bathe the elephants, camp and enjoy the natural panorama from the suspension bridge. For those of you who are interested in outdoor tourism, this location is perfect.

In Tangkahan Ecotourism, you can interact directly with elephants, starting from feeding, bathing and going on forest trips with elephants. You also can ride and trek in nature with elephants for an hour to a 4-day trip that will take you to Bukit Lawang. The Tangkahan Ecotourism Area is actually split by the Batang Serangan River. So, do not be surprised if there will be many tributaries in this area.

You get to do River Tubing, which is a lot of fun. You will be happy to enjoy the sensation of a river current that will take you to a waterfall where you can swim in the clear and refreshing water. On the way, you can also enjoy the natural scenery of the rainforest and can meet many monkeys sitting on the treetops.

This area was once known as the largest tin producer in Indonesia. The characteristic feature of the beaches in the Belitung Islands is the giant granite rocks scattered in all directions. Crystal clear blue sea water, white sand and coconut trees on the beach. To enjoy the natural beauty of Belitung is to visit the islands and beaches there. You will be presented with a very cool view of the Belitung sea.

For those who don't have much time, don't worry. You can visit all of the destinations in just one day. You can start from Tanjung Kelayang Pier and rent the boats there.  Located at an altitude of 2,000 meters above sea level (MDPL). A caldera surrounded by an active volcano. There are many interesting spots for you to visit there. Such as a colour lake, candradimuka crater, Arjuna temple complex, Sikunir hill and many other tourist objects here. Lembongan Village in Dieng has been named the tallest village on the island of Java with an altitude of 2300 masl.

One thing you can't miss while in the Dieng Plateau is seeing the beauty of the sunrise from Sikunir Peak. To see the beauty of this sunrise, you have to get up early, at around 04:00, considering you have to do trekking which is quite far and tiring. Even though it's a village, the Dieng Plateau has a Film Theater. Don't expect to see Captain America or Deadpool here, no! In this theatre, visitors are educated with stories about the Dieng Plateau, its culture, and history.

One of the destinations you cannot miss from the itinerary is to stop by Telaga Warna and Telaga Pengilon. These two lakes will be more beautiful, seen from a height or the Wailing Stone of the Wind. The Dieng Plateau is known as one of the areas with the oldest Hindu temples in Java, one of which is the Arjuna Temple. Arjuna Temple is located in the Arjuna Complex, the "home" for four other temples besides Arjuna, namely Puntadewa, Srikandi, Sembadra, and Semar.

Famous for the charm of the African savanna and known as Little Africa In Java. In Baluran National Park, it is also used to conserve various flora and fauna. It has an area of 25,000 hectares, and almost 40 per cent of its area is savanna. There are various protected animals such as bulls, buffalo, deer, and long-tailed monkeys.

If you think Baluran is just a natural tourist spot, you are wrong. In Baluran National Park you can also learn history. One of the historical tours that you should not miss is Goa Jepang. Goa Jepang is a cave which covers an area of about 12 square meters, is a place to survive and store ammunition. The location of the Japanese Cave is right at the entrance of Baluran National Park; stopping for a moment to this cave before exploring Baluran is not a bad idea. Your adventure starts at the Batangan resort, the first gate of Baluran National Park. From Batangan, we will be treated to a lot of beautiful natural scenery on the route of the Evergreen forest area – Savana Bekol – Bama Beach with a distance of 15 km.

Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air are three small islands off the coast of Lombok Island's west side, which later became known as the Three Gilis. The three islands have become icons and the main resources of the island of Lombok to bring in foreign and domestic tourists with all its advantages, namely free of motorized vehicles and clear waters. There are many things that you can do while on vacation in the Three Gilis, which are generally filled with outdoor activities and not far from the beach. Those who come to these islands are curious and tempted by the enchanting beach treats. The beaches on the Three Gilis are very tempting, with seawater that has good visibility, coral reefs that are relatively well preserved, and rich marine life being the main attraction.

It is included in the Komodo National Park Area. This National Park consists of three large islands: Komodo Island, Rinca Island, and Padar Island. Komodo Island has also been named a world heritage site. There you can go trekking. There are three trekking routes choices: short, medium, and long. You can choose according to ability. Whichever trekking route is chosen according to the ability of tourists to take it, travellers will still see Komodo dragons. But there are rules for women who want to see Komodo dragons. For women who are in period are not allowed because Komodo dragons have a sharp smell. If you are still not satisfied with trekking on Komodo Island, we recommend visiting Padar Island. As a habitat for the ancient Komodo dragon, this island also has other tourist attractions you can visit, such as Pink Beach or Tenar, also known as Pink Beach.

This place offers stunning natural beauty. For fauna lovers, especially birds, you can try bird watching at Saprokren, South Waigeo, Raja Ampat Regency; There, you will see firsthand various types of birds, including the native Papuan bird of paradise.
